Nick Grondin won 2009 ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award for his piece "The Shifter" for jazz orchestra.  The prize includes a cash prize, publicity by ASCAP, and an awards ceremony at Lincoln Center in New York in June.

Grondin is one of 20 recipients of the award this year, selected among jazz composers under the age of 30 from across the U.S..  He also won the same award in 2008 for another piece for jazz orchestra, "Mingus."
